Veil and online challenges are two different things. I don’t doubt you can get a higher scores with fast.

Like I said, if you really want to prove your point, kill the MWM fleet I put up with FMLs, or post a FMLs fleet to see if I can kill it with MWM.

The two are seperate. I have two computers running GSB atm. One is doing Campaign tests (currently seeing what’s the fastest playthrough i can do. Old record of mine is i think 214, let’s see if i can beat that!) and the other is doing Veil literally whenever i’m not using it for schoolwork. Until one of those two finishes up it’s appointed task, I’ll have to wait.

And who said i’m using fast OR mwm for veil?

  • I successfully repaired a captured ship. Nice work. :slight_smile:
  • is pilots a new feature? If so then this is a neat way to restrict fighter spam. If that was always there then I didn’t notice it.
  • I was really hoping the speed for each craft would appear in the tool tip during deployment. I think this is important especially when you’re working with captured craft not of your own design.
  • fleets with no engines should be disallowed or not selected in the campaign - maybe. They’re simply too tough. If I had the luxury of freeing up two or three extra slots and saving power/crew etc then I might be able to compete one on one.
  • no crashes to desktop yet

Fox, the only problem with pilots is it means i’ll just sit back for 75-100 turns and sim up my fighters until my swarm is big enough to eat the losses and clear ~50% of the map.

That said? it’s still a good fix.

I love the pilot solution, plays a lot better. If the AI raids are made strong enough or varied enough to make ‘camping’ a risky campaign strat, that would encourage players to keep pushing rather than accumulating fighters for a killer stack.

Having said that, I’m still in the dark over how the enemy forces are chosen…

So far about 60 weeks into a campaign, still sitting on 4-5 worlds and the fleet is around 50K. Crashes are common but so far not corrupting the campaign. The problem is, the fleets attacking from dayamun or wherever are too big to avoid damage to the precious fleet so retreat is necessary… then the counterattack finds a single cruiser left or built by the attacking ai fleet. I leave a few decoy fighters and then retreat. The campaign seems to be a long series of highly unequal battles (~50K vs 2.5K, 100K+ ai fleet vs 2 retreating fighters), until eventually and inevitably I will build up a big enough fleet to sweep the resident fleets. The resident ai fleets seem to be accumulating so possibly not.

The retreat button and the turn button sometimes cause crashes of the interface or the entire program, it is similar to the problem with the ‘save deployment’ button in the regular challenge battle set-up screen… takes a lot of clicks to get a response.

@ lkohime: The AI push every 3rd or 4th turn so you need to keep pushing back (with limited pilots) just to hold ground. If you don’t hold ground then you don’t get the cash to build a killer stack.

I havne’t had time to extnesivly test a 1.50 campaign, i’ve been trying to max out my rebel fleet for survival xD

The Ai reacts both to the prescence of a big enemy fleet in the next system, and to ‘news’ of a major overwhelming attack by you. Basically if you attack from A to B and totally crush the enemy, the enemy at C (connected to B) will hear about it and start to build up its fleet. This is true to a progressively lesser extent, every hop away from the scene of battle.
Bad news spreads, basically.

I moved a fleet to Abraxanth Prime, and retreated.
Then in the same turn the computer attacked Secaras IV with the fleet I retreated from, from Abraxanth Prime.
I fought, then retreated.
Then my origional fleet that I retreated with, and the fleet I had fought deployed on Secaras IV. I retreated.

I fought three battles on two worlds with the same fleets.

This is what I meant by follow-on-battles from previous debugging. After showing the initial battles the AI should not be able to move fleets from those battle worlds and attack other worlds (strategic game).

I keep having the same sort of problems as The Fox! :S

I haven’t any major issues but the whole backround of the campaign is white. There is not a space backround at all.

112 weeks into the campaign, with control over six worlds and readying for an assault on dayamun…

A bug set in making play impossible. The maintenance and cash displays show amounts like: -8-9-7-5 etc. The campaign still plays however I cannot build since it thinks I’m broke. Restarted without effect.

The fleets defending Dayamun and Motagoros are vast. It would be nice if the fleets attacking from these world attritted from their total, otherwise it is not worth engaging at all. If I cannot fix up the current campaign I might not bother again; the game needs a bit of a rethink.

same Problems,

  1. A retreat can cause the Fleet/ships to disappear from the game.
    this has happen to me at least 3 times with last time the whole fleet be gone, a game ending event.
    This should not be part of game

  2. The A.I. fleets size and type seem to be random.
    Go to the system once then return 3 turns later completely different
    in type & size

  3. The AI fleets kept getting so large that they could not be build at that time in game.

  4. No matter how many battle one wins the A.I. will always has the
    the fleet that’s bad for you.

  5. I can not get the affinity change to stay changed. I also have a core 2 duo.??

Hi, I just got the Campaign from Impulse. I also just freshly reinstalled GSB from Impulse because I got a new computer a while ago and had not installed GSB on it yet and have not played for some time.

On my first game, after my first battle, I clicked “view statistics” on the summary and got “cannot write tutorial seen file… \src\GUI_Tutorial.cpp 315” and the game locks.

it sounds lijke there is some kind of permissions problem preventing the game from writing a file in your \mydocuments\my games\gratuitous space battles folder, which could be some over-zelous insane setting on security software perhaps?

I suppose, but why would it get that far, having shown me a bunch of tutorial items, then die there? The only software I’m running is AVG. I’ll try starting a new game later. Thanks!

well until then it is just reading files, not writing anything, so it could be allowing one but not the other. Could also be some actual malware, hooking into the filesystem :frowning:

Does this happen when you hit the retreat button, or when your ships get to retreat range.
