Checking out the 'enemy' ships

So you want to know what you’re up against? Would you perhaps like to use the enemy power against them? Now you can.

It’s deceptively easy, as well.

Head to:
[C:\Program Files (x86)\Gratuitous Space Battles 2]\data\ships
(note that the first part depends on where you installed the game)
There are 4 maps in there, one for each race, and there are text files in each of these maps.
Copy your favorite race’s .txt files (You can also do multiple races if you want to)

Now go to:
[my documents]\my games\GratuitousSpaceBattles2\ships
(If it doesn’t exist, maybe you need to start the game once first)
The ships in this folder are exactly the same format as the ships in the race’s maps above.
Ergo, just paste whichever ships you want to check out and/or use.

Then start the game, and they will show up, dependent on which race you’ve chosen. You can see the layouts (including locked parts) and setup your defences against them, or you can pit the AI’s ships against themselves.

Have fun

This is useful. Especially in the last couple of battles where the AI ships have extremely powerful shields! I’ve already beaten all the scenarios before this though :stuck_out_tongue:
