Crash after installing Tribes expansion

Just nabbed the Tribe expansion and after installing it, I’m getting a crash in-battle just as my fighters are in range to start trading firepower.

I think I know what you’re going to say, but is there anything in errors.txt that would help?

There’s no errors.txt in my debug folder - just those two files. Probably makes finding out what’s going on that much harder… maybe it’s hidden in a different folder than those other text files?

no, it should only appear if a certain error happened. if there’s no errors.txt, then that means it’s something I don’t know how to fix :frowning:

thats strange. what sort of crash is it? does this only happen with certain ships, maybe the fighters? if you play a non-tribe battle does it still crash?

I’ve got the same crash upon my fighters firing on the tribe fighters. Posted about it over in the old support forum. Pretty sure I put it in the wrong place. I don’t get any debug info written after the crash either, but I’m thinking that may be a windows 7 thing. I’m running a VAIO CW with an nvidia 330, latest drivers for everything. The original game works perfectly, so I’m guessing its an issue with the tribe fighters hit shader animation?

Sorry for the lack of reply. Yeah, it was a straight crash to desktop - no error message, no txt file - just a clean crisp crash without much ado.

I say it ‘was’ a crash as I did the numbskull quick fix attempt of re-downloading the core game installer and re-installing the game. Fired up the same scenario/ships/difficulty level and when the fighters started trading firepower, I got a beautiful cacophony of projectiles and beams instead of a harsh crash.

there is no shader involved in the fighters hit animation, and its no different to any other effect in the game. Also, the game should be fine on windows 7. Are you sure everything is instaleld in the right location?
