Crash on startup

Hello I recently bought the GSB-Pack on Steam. My Problem now is that the game wont start.
The Error looks like this:

1. Steam is “preparing to launch GSB”
2. I see the Main menu flashing up a split second.
3. Game closes without any direct error messages from windows

What I have tried:

1. Deleting the P:\Users*\Documents\My Games\GratuitousSpaceBattles folder
2. Deleting the folder, then the game and reinstalling it.
3. Updating drivers and doing the same as in 2.
4. Altering the settings of the config files manually (screen resulution, windowed, etc.)

Additional Information:

I had GSB when it first came out and it worked perfectly, but there are no traces left of that (Not on the harddrive or the registry)

Probably totally unrelated but I also purchased the GSB pack on Steam (for Mac) last week and have had the same issue at times. It would start up and then crash. I would then need to restart Steam and hope for the best.
