Crashes when loading a saved game

Hi,
I bought the game on steam a few days ago. I can start new games but if I load a saved game democracy 3 crashes, windows says the game is not responding. in the democracy3\debug\error file it says:
24/10/2013 - 6::12 - D3DERR_DEVICELOST
24/10/2013 - 6::12 - Flip

Thanks for any help

Saves before 1.08 are not compatible with 1.08.
