I just made my first custom map, did one play-test as defence, and found it was far too easy.
Winning the battle gave me two unlocks, and a medal for not using any infantry as I hadn’t though to mark the trenches as deployable.
The game should probably not give unlocks and medals for custom maps, unless you can do some automated difficulty test to determine whether it’s enough of a challenge.
