Demo 1.25 possible bug-- ships stop just out of range

I’m trying out the demo, version 1.25 on Vista Business 64. I made a custom frigate and sent 6 of them out on the first tutorial mission. Their orders are Co-operative and Vulture.

Every time, they easily destroy the first ship that comes at them, then advance until they are just out of range of the enemy with their rapid fire lasers. They then cease to move and get slowly destroyed by beam weapons.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

Did you change the Attack Target orders? There are 2 sliders under those commands. One for the range to engage that type of target, The other to determine the chance of engaging a specific type of target.

Plus some scenario’s will affect the range of your weapons, which in turn means you have to change the orders.
