GDP going up causes the environment to become polluted. That make sense, but I can’t seem to find any reasonably way to combat this without purposefully tanking GDP. Would it not be possible to convert to a “green” economy and still retain a high GDP while mitigating environmental disaster?
There are lots of environmental policies which together manage to take care of the environment without much affecting GDP.
If you do ONLY them, GDP will be lower overall, sure, but plenty other policies will improve GDP without affecting environment.

Most of the Policy that help the environment doesn’t affect GDP. Hell, some even help both eg New Car subsidies. You will always need to boost the environment if your playing with the GDP. the business council. and entrepreneur schemes both boost GDP without touching the environment. If you enact all environmental policies/laws at max, and even just some GDP policies you will max out both.
