GSB crashes on Windows 10

#1

Good morning,

I’ve recently set up a new Windows 10 computer, and after installing GSB, when I try to run the game, I get the main GSB screen and about 2 seconds later I see a message from Windows that the game has stopped working. The debug file reads as follows:

----DEBUG FILE----
Windows 7 detected
GSB Debug File. App version Full 1.63
Desktop resolution is 1920 x 1080
Initialising Direct3D
Initialising global vertex buffer
creating render targets
success in initialising 3D
Initialising Direct Input
Finished Initialising Direct Input
GBufferedFile failed to open file

Obviously, “Windows 7 detected” is incorrect. Beyond that, I’m mystified. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ace, long time no see mate

looks like the “GBufferedFile failed to open file” is the cause of the crash.
As a comparison, I just fired up GSB on my Win 10 machine with no issue.

Here is the debug file
----DEBUG FILE----
Windows 7 detected
GSB Debug File. App version Full 1.63
Desktop resolution is 1920 x 1080
Initialising Direct3D
Initialising global vertex buffer
creating render targets
success in initialising 3D
Initialising Direct Input
Finished Initialising Direct Input
Initialising Sound Engine
Initialised Sound System with 512 channels

Finished Initialising Sound Engine
GBufferedFile failed to open file
GBufferedFile failed to open file
GBufferedFile failed to open file
GBufferedFile failed to open file
releasing D3D engine
D3D released
END DEBUG—

As you can see I also had the “GBufferedFile failed to open file” error but the game managed to get past it.

At a guess the GBufferedFile is for video card so its the standard suggestion, ensure latest drivers, blah blah, you know the drill

Another possibly you might have a video card that is too advanced ?
(ie the latest rendition that has ray tracing and quantum bit entanglement or somesuch)
