They all tell me that I should unzip the folders in the ‘directory’ or the ‘Democracy 3 folder’. It seems that I cannot find anything remotely resembling that. All I have is the application.

Sorry about that, I figured it out. It seems it’s hidden within the application itself, rather than some other part of the computer.
