No new ships available

Is there a time limit tat must be reached before ships are avaialble in Shipyards? It is in day 180 and all the shipyards are simply empty.
I am playing in Freeform mode and have not yet played the missions.

Do I need to get a pile of credits first? Is there a way to edit something to make the ships appear for sale?

I saw this on the main Posi page:

The latest version is now 2.3. This fixes some small bugs, ensures you can get ships to buy in the freeform random maps, and also displays the crewmember icons over their respective crew cabins in the modules view. Check out our forums (link on left of page) for the most up to date information on new versions. If you bought the game recently, you can redownlaod it using the same link to get the new improved version. This also fixes a crash bug on the ‘Gambling with phasers’ level.

I see that version 2.4 is available via a download if you have bought it online but I bought mine from a Store 3 days ago and have no access to the download site.

Does anyone have version 2.4 available for DL somewhere? I have searched the I-net extensively.
