Noticed there was no Value Added Tax yet. A tax that is implamented in a number of countries for many years. Is somebody thinking it’s too much like Sales Tax?

Sales tax needs to converted into a consumption tax

Wait, sales taxes are consumption taxes, right? Or am I getting something wrong here? If I remember correctly sales taxes are already implemented in game.

A sales tax can levy a tax on selected items at wildly different rates. On the other hand, a consumption tax is a flat rate of tax on everything.

I think that for the sake of simplicity, Cliff assumes here that the sales tax is flat tax for all goods and services. I’m sure that VAT could be added.

I now realize that the sales tax also represents a flat VAT, for the sake of simplicity. I guess that it makes sense.
