before I enter my serial number and possibly lock down my profile, I’d like to know if it is possible to edit the profile (Badge/Avatar, Commander and Regiment Name) later?

yup, you can edit it to your heart’s content, but changing your username (not general or regiment) is not advised, because challenges use your name, as does lots of high score stuff, so you will lose that if you change the username.
