I miss in line inspection. No one waits until the finished product to fix defects. I would suggest research: In line inspection, SPC, Process validation, TS 1649, AAIAG guidelines or similar upgrades to production lines.
Continuous improvement activities (besides my own play), Lean for optimized production time and six sigma for reduced defects.
Possibility to “negoiate” with suppliers. Prices, delivery time (I have lots of "waiting for ressources that would not be accepted and replace the supplier fast)
Upgrade work force, skilled labour for fewer defects, operator maintenance to minimiz down time in the production cells
