When creating a custom game it would be great if there was a slider which allowed you to choose how many AI companies you wish to have in your game.
You can. It’s one of the first options. You even get to choose the difficulty of each AI, and which AIs you are competing against.

I had thought this was about actually setting a Competition against an AI (as opposed to against time - race a against AI- as added challenges or maybe even as option in creating Custom games - which makes it even trickier to implement).
