Selection of escorts and formation ships attached to the ship. Like say Alt-Left Mouse. So that you can click on your Cruiser and it’ll select it’s escorts ect. This would make it faster to reorganize your fleet, once it gets mushed to pieces.

Ctrl-Left click on a selected ship should deselect it. (‘Standard’ gui behaviour)
