[SUPPORT] [LINUX] Game crash few seconds after start

Hello,

I have a problem running the game.

When I start it, I see the “Twice circled” logo, sometimes the “Positech” one, but the game always crashes few seconds after startup.
It seems to be always at the same time because if I do nothing, is crash at the end of the first logo, if I click many times, I can sometimes see the “Big Pharma” logo starting to appear before the crash…

I tried to disable fullscreen in prefs file, same problem.
Also tried to delete “~/.config/unity3d/Twice Circled/Big Pharma” folder, nothing changes.
And no trace of the problem in syslog (so it’s not a segfault or something like that)

Sorry to hear you are having problems getting the game working. This seems very similar to post: http://positech.co.uk/forums/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=14322 but it looks like I was on the wrong track on how to fix that.

The key error seems to be this:

ERROR: ld.so: object '/home/elektordi/.steam/ubuntu12_32/gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32): ignored.

I did some more searches, can you try the fixes here?: http://askubuntu.com/questions/639308/some-steam-games-wont-startup-gameoverlayrenderer-so-error

Also, just to make sure, you’re not running EVGA Precision or any other overclocking software are you? If so, please disable and try again.

Thank you very much, I was looking for an error at the end, not at the top of the log… ^^

I disabled the steam overlay in game options on the steam library. Now everything is working!

It makes sense, the steam overlay open a popup few seconds after game start, I think it was causing the crash…

I’ve updated to the latest AMD drivers for Linux (15.20.1046-150622a-186193C) but this did not fix the issue.

For the other people affected by this issue, note that the Windows version appears to run fine through WINE on Linux and this will let you at least play while we wait for a fix.

Now I’m getting a bit confused. Those last two errors look like the original ones, they can be solved by turning of the Steam overlay, no? Or are they from when you navigate to the ingredients tab?

Please state the symptoms along with each separate error log so I can analyse them in the proper context.

This is only a shot into the dark, but have you installed the lsb_release program on your computer?
On some unity3d-versions before 5.1 there is a problem which causes a SIGSEGV if lsb_release is not
available on the system.

Can everybody else also post their specs (Linux OS and version is most important) and whether they are having the same issue. Even if you are not having the issue it would be great if you could state that and your specs to act as a control (obviously no point unless you are running on a Linux operating system).

It works on Fedora 22 with
