Voter Happiness and Situations

In the original version of Democracy, it was possible to have voter groups’ happiness directly influenced by simulation quantities, (e.g. high equality made Socialists happy, high GDP made capitalists happy) so why is it that now, how happy a group of voters is influences those quantities?

I know it sounds crazy, but if you look at “equality” for example, you see Socialists under influences, not effects.

In fact, thinking about it, all “simulation” values - GDP, Racial Tension, Immigration, etc etc, have their influences after the # - not their effects!
