Wages and UBI don't impact workweek or unemployment

In this topic I have a few points about wages, UBI and workweeks

  1. I noticed that wages don’t affect the workweek while in reality when people earn more they will generally work less and when people earn less they will need a longer workweek to get by and thus work more.

  2. I also noticed that Universal Basic Income doesn’t have an effect on the workweek. When people get free money from the government each month they will likely work fewer hours or even entirely stop working (and thus slightly increase unemployment). If wages would have an effect on the workweek then UBI would also have an indirect effect on the workweek since UBI increases wages.

But shouldn’t it also cause a stress epidemic, since the wealthy no longer know how to spend all their money?!

Classic article. Not satire.
