Why do people get angry from disasters/market meltdown?

Some events are beyond the player’s control, such as natural disasters, and market meltdowns.

But why do they affect public opinion? Except religious fundamentalists, no-one would blame the country’s leader for a natural disaster. Same goes for the market meltdown; from the description it happens overseas.

Of course, these events have effects on simulation variables, which will, in the end, affect public opinion. But why the direct effect for public opinion?

It’s part of a feel bad factor. Stuff the government weren’t behind/to thank for will affect their support nonetheless perhaps as it’s seen as a microcosm of the status quo working/not working.
