Missing policies? (what do YOU want?)

This is a problem with tariffs but the biggest problem(and with most “industry protection”) is that they divert investment from profitable and efficient industries into the protected industry, high tariffs will usually be a kick to GDP and most economists will argue even to unemployment. Of course its a real vote winner with people employed in the protected industry and the people missing out on jobs or paying higher prices for goods because of the tariffs don’t know it.

I would love more policies to dramatically change the way a country is run, state ownership was mentioned, secret police, media controls, media ownership laws etc. Playing a liberal democracy is fun but doing something more dramatic would add to replayability.

I made a few mods myself but found that as I already knew exactly what would happen there wasn’t much risk or thrill in playing with them.

Looking back through this thread there are some really great ideas, although obviously alot of them can’t be modded in at this stage, I love the idea of choosing your political ideology or party at the start of the game,

also having a good economic model would go a long way, once you have a few key economic indicators acting on each other appropriately you can then just have policies pushing and pulling at them. No need for anything to complex, just unemployment, GDP, GDP growth, interest rate and inflation oughta do a good job IMVHO…

I also like the idea of having a ministry with their competence or otherwise effecting popularity.

Actually calculating the make up of houses of parliament, in the US or UK this won’t make much of a difference but in German system(or Australian if you include a senate) it’d be huge, if you’re a centre-left chancellor wanting to deregulate the economy your socialist or green coalition partners might have something to say about it, this is probably a bit complex to make but it’d sure make for an interesting game. An increased role for parties and parliament in general would be interesting, adds the possibility of running out a term in opposition aswell.

referenda and constitutional change would also add interesting elements to the game.
