Demo version (1.22 in readme.txt) crashes on startup with a D3DEngine Error “CreateDevice:(d3d7)”.

Video Driver Version: 94.24 (latest driver from nVidia)
RAM: 2GB
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+
DirectX Version: 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Changing settings in “CONFIG.MUF” as recommended on the website has no effect.
Any chance this is a known bug?
I haven’t had any problems with other games, but wouldn’t rule out an OS problem as W2k has been installed for many years on this system.
