I’d love to see a scanner module that would let you view enemy ships’ loadouts. I can think of a couple of possible different implementations, any of which would be cool.
Scanner is a module that “attacks” enemy ships w/in it’s range. On a hit the ship is highlighted somehow and if you click on it, it’s module layout will pop up like when you click on your own ships.
Scanner is a module that “attacks” enemy ships w/in it’s range. If the scanning ship survives to the end of the battle the scan(s) can be analyzed allowing you to look at the enemy loadouts in detail.
Some possibilities: Scanners might not be 100% successful (EG each “hit” reveals 0-3 modules at random).
Shields might block scanners (or make it harder to scan).
Frigate scanners (if they exist) might have a much smaller range, pretty much requiring getting in close.
Might also require some sort of “gather intel” order.
