It seems that the payscales associated with Science field is not in line with the rest of the professions. While I expect Lawyers to be the richest, it seems odd that the best you can make as a Particle Physicist is 46k. It seems that the beginning of the science scale is accurate, its just that the more senior science positions are not.
The same may be true with Journalism, but I have less of a feel for that.
