I was gone, so I never saw my first ship die. I presume fighter critical hits finally wore out the repair supplies. I do know how to do it better - but maybe another day.

And after figuring out the one necessary set of orders, I think everything else is about the ship build, and location.

Great result. Do the tweeks & drop the fighters, it will be neat to see what you end up with :slight_smile: If you beat me, I’ll have to come out of retirement!

Nice Thanksgiving day present - 1,660,672 points. Nice second attempt after ‘getting the hang of it’. I’m not sure I like some of the changes I made, I need to run some more tests.

I would say this to anyone reading this thread, you can do this too - with no mods - and only after 5 to 6 attempts… Read what Matt, IKohime, and 123stw have said in this thread and “123’s Comprehensive GSB Guide”.

I use 7 of those…

But I only get 52k. I am not getting it. It seems anything but raw armor on the ship will make it die even faster. With all the Fighters, I don’t dare make a shield tanker.

I presume since this is a long distance challenge you really can only use cruisers which makes sense. Seems to me they would all need to be the same build so that when one falls there is no support task that goes with it. I have made build after build… they all seem to die faster. For instance, Point Defense… sounds great… die faster really.

I have to be missing something here.

I think i need to switch to feds. I’ve been playing around offline, and only got another 4-5k points added.
Meh, i’ll see how these things work out with rebels over the rest of the weekend :confused:

Fly, try adding a few shields. You really only need two armor and a few repair modules to keep fighters from murdering you, so drop a bunch of armor for shields and some weapons
Also, missiles over Beam Laser’s. They don’t have that high of a shield pen, relative to missiles

Fly, you should consider that I think 3% of hits will damage otherwise un-damagable armour. Its a slippery slope too, once a crack opens more weapons become effective untill at the end the large swarm of fighters clean you up. Once the crack appears, it seems repair modules struggle to keep up. To make it worse, the lack of weapons in your design means En ships are shootin for a looong time, with 1 in 33 shots doing damage.

Just hit 1,476,000 with Nomads…but my net went down before I could post the score :frowning:

If anyone doesn’t mind critiqueing it that would be great. The fusion beam is only to handle the friggin Fighters… Though it helps finish of frigs quite well. The fighers are a bad nuessance.

My next thought is to replace one MWM with a Laser Targeter. Perhaps the increased accuracy would make up for the loss in missles in spades… or maybe it will be a huge mistake.

Sorry, this has to be quick so I can’t say everything I’d like to. I believe the same way that you do - each ship should do the same duty so when one is lost the fleet doesn’t suffer. That said, I am running three different builds in my current ‘simulations’.

I believe my high score only had two designs. How I got there is exactly how you are doing it - modifying one ship design until it did well. Then I started working on orders and placement. After that, I split the AA and the main fleet. And by AA I mean just one or two different modules from the Main fleet designs.

BTW, I would chuck the Eagle hull and use Panthers.

I changed the fusion laser to a pulse laser. Seems to clear out Fighters much faster. Also, I changed the Formation to be on a guy in the back instead of one in the front.
100k and no deaths so far.
well, that moved me to like 38 on the score board. :frowning:
At leatst my score is going higher. Wierd that no ship died till 130k then they all started dropping like flies.

I’m going to be trying out a fed fleet this coming week. Given that i’ve puled the highest rebel fleet but can’t seem to get higher, i think it is the hulls lmiting me now :confused:

Everyone of my ships carries a pulse laser - just to kill fighters.

I used two ship types (LR & Tank), which is how I got cheaper ships (11) & more protection and firepower. Specialisation. But having said that, I have a sneaky feeling my score is gonna get topped :slight_smile:

Well, only share what you want… but certianly concider me in competition with you. However, I don’t think you have that much to worry about for a long time.

I have been running another simulation with specialization. The problem I have been having is really keeping the enemy firing at my “Tanks” instead of the ones hurling vollys of rockets. :slight_smile:
